When  Damien receives an invitation to a party in France, he scents a trap.  But when Jeremiah—both his oldest friend and most formidable enemy—calls  in a favour, he is left with no choice but to travel to the Loire to  rub shoulders with French aristocrats.

But he is not the only person there under false pretences.

A scheming French vampire with a chip on his shoulder plots to overthrow the lord of the castle.

A strange but handsome kitchen boy hides a secret that could destroy all of them.

And meanwhile, the witches, longstanding enemies of the vampires, are moving in the shadows.
